Happy #Earthday

Public Park - Photographed by Alex Green 2012

Lets think about Earth from different approach today. We know about most of the environmental concerns, from the damage caused by using plastic bags to the mass issue of global warming .. but aren’t we missing something?

Personally, I know more than one very beautiful public park not far from me. my parents has a very beautiful garden in their front yard. but I’ve been always busy to spent some time in there, despite of the fact that I usually spend three hours minimum in one of the cafes everyday! So why didn’t I just do whatever I do in the coffee shop in a much beautiful place, more natural and healthier?

I thought about it today, and I came up with this, maybe because that its free, and available with no effort to make. Don’t we tend to forget about the value of what we have until comes the time that we lose it? Now I know, if I could I would spend more time in my parent’s garden or in the public parks around me. I’m know very grateful that such places are providing unforgettable memories and a time full of joy for entire families for no return.

I guess if we appreciate the green zones around us more, if we promote those places I could I assume that we will have similar impact to raising awareness about environmental issues.

Haapy Earth Day
Enjoy it in Public Parks.

In Behalf of God ..

Playing God, is one of the most irritating behaviors and commonly found in the middle east. Although Islam is a religion believes in the existence of only god in control with the ultimate power, yet many people speak in his name to justify what are they saying. People interested in self believe that saying “please” at the end of a sentence increase the chance of getting what has been asked for, also they said that giving a reason regardless of its nature help receiver to justify the request. Likewise adding god in whatever you do in the middle east make it acceptable and justified.

Your thoughts are the architect of your destiny
David O. Mckay

One very obvious example of that, when a person does something wrong, he would probably say that what happened is god’s wish. In a worse situation, if someone cased you a trouble, or but you in position that you are losing because of his own decision, he would say its maybe the god’s wanted this to be happened and he has no control on god, moreover he would require you to accept that and stop arguing about it.  And people tend to go with this because they believe in destiny and many of them fail to put a line between destiny and wrong judgments and attitudes.

Hence, people tend in developing their speeches in this region to prove that its come along with god welling. which Ironically would falsely indicate that most of people are just as smart and as good as god ! Ha?

This behavior might be found also in political- sociological level, when leaders of society try to be the men in charge. they would use god to prove that they are whom deserve the political and social authority. they, well, lets say some of them might manipulate the people by translating god’s saying with his own way and to his favor. Therefore Islamic and radical parties usually win in any political competition in this region and thats why democracy is not the best solution for middle east. ( Lebanon Iraq and currently Egypt and maybe Tunis are great examples.

At this point, its worth to mention that many corrupted  politician take their fake legitimacy from similar strategy, but speaking in behalf of someone else,  the people. They would claim that they are speaking on behalf of people, and they demanding people’s demands not their own. Those, on their side are playing angels! whom would do anything for the people for no return. Who would do that these days?

And Its not difficult, you only have to replace “I” with “people” while you talk and you would have the attention and credibility you need. Alwefaq, a major opposition party in Bahrain, recreated the revolution by promoting its on revolutionary  slogan “People demand to reform the regime” instead of “people demand to replace the regime” which were used in the most countries participated in Arab spring. Lately their representative, former PM Dr.Jassim Hussain met auto sports journalists in Bahrain international circuit and climbed that the people are happy and welcoming the F1 race and despite of the fact that people are protesting, tweeting, forming lobbies and interest groups all over the world everyday against the F1. Jassim’s claims went on media in the name of people.

“I can tell you that most people in Bahrain are happy and pleased that F1 is back in Bahrain, given its effects on the economy and the social aspects of it,” said Husain, who resigned in protest during last year’s anti-government demonstrations.

Speaking on the name of God or the people is a total shame, its only means that the speaker has no courage to speak for himself.

#Alkhawaja one case .. one hashtag ! #Bahrain

Alkhawaja was the Middle East and North Africa Protection Coordinator with Front Line Defenders before he leave his post in February 2011 to devout himself entirely for the sake of revolution in Bahrain

Abdulhadi Alkhawaja is a Bahraini human rights defender hero. On Feb 12, 2012 he started open-ended hunger strike until freedom or death refusing his unjustified sentenced for life imprisonment and the violation for human rights in prison

The last known location for Alkhawaja is the military hospital, he has been transferred as the side effects of hunger has dramatically escalated damaging his health, after being on his for two months. Alkhawaja’s case attracted international attention starting from global NGOs, Denmark and the UN not only because he is a pioneer rights activist in the GCC are but also because he hold a Danish passport. However the daily visits from the Danish ambassador in Bahrain to Alkhawaja called of for the past two days. Therefore, his lawyer is afraid that he’s passed away as no body have seen or talked to him in two days.

The government in Bahrain refused a formal danish request to transfer Alkhwaja to Denmark to get the medical treatment he need. However the Danish P.M said that according to trusted sources Alkhawaja is still alive yesterday. Also many reports said that Alkhawaja is subjected to forced feeding which considered as a type of torture.

The demand of changing the regime was adopted by Alkhwaja earlier before the revolution in February 2011 when he called to replace the the slogan “Death to Alkhlifas” with “step down the ruling gang”. And he was very clear in that when was giving his speeches in Lulu square last year. which may be the cause of subjecting him to extensive torture to the extent that, according to his daughter, when they arrested him, he has been taken from home unconscious due to the beating he received from the arresting officers.

The prison didn’t meant to Alkhwaja the end of his battle. he is fighting with the only weapon he got, and he’s so far succeeding in performing pressure on the government and its not a surprising to be himself the reason to call off Bahrain F1 grand prix which is scheduled later this month.

On twitter many tweeps are putting a lot of effort on tweeting about Alkhawaja, when he entered the danger stage

last released picture for Alkhawaja , in this stage he lost quarter of his weight

and his health started to collapse they tried to trend the hashtag #DontForgetAlkhawaja and they failed which is every predictable for several reasons first because the population of Bahrain is not big enough and second the world is not fully supporting Bahrainis like they Egyptians or the Syrians for example which means there are no much of tweets from the rest of the world to help trending the hashtag. There is one blame on the Bahrainis though. As they, maybe, don’t consider Twitter as a tool to send a message to the world but a new fashion of chatting and spamming the world wide web. Its very possible to count at least five hastags related to Alkhwaja case .. but why?  #SaveAlkhwaja , #DontForgetAlkhawaja , #FreeAlkhwaja have the same meaning and add nothing to the case, its only confuse the tweeps and lower the chances of trending a hashtag or even having a top tweet ! in a personal opinion the hastag #Alkhwaja is good enough, and its short ,so it gives a chance to write longer tweets. I honestly don’t know why people don’t focus on tweeting with this hashtag instead of creating a new one every few days only for the sake of change!

This is a honest advice from a person who don’t know better, to focus on one hastag and tweet about Alkhwaja as much as possible, so people know that Bahrain has a hero who is welling to give his life just to put Bahrain back on the surface and make the international community busy.
